For more than forty years, Landfall Navigation and Ultimate Sailing have each served the sailing community in ways that, while distinct, share a common purpose: to support, celebrate, and strengthen life on the water.
Since 1982, Landfall has been a trusted outfitter for sailors preparing for offshore passages, local cruising, and everything in between. Under the leadership of Sean Fleischman—who spent twenty years inside the company before purchasing it in 2018—Landfall has maintained a deep connection to the sailing community. Through Safety@Sea seminars, youth programs, boat shows, educational partnerships, and year-round outfitting, the company’s role extends far beyond retail into long-standing stewardship of seamanship and sailor preparedness.
Meanwhile, award-winning photographer Sharon Green has been chronicling the passion and intensity of the sport through Ultimate Sailing for just as many decades. Shooting from both air and water, her imagery captures the drama of elite racing, the beauty of motion, and the spirit that draws people to the sea. Her annual Ultimate Sailing Calendar has become a fixture among sailors and yacht clubs worldwide, celebrating the sport’s color and energy.
This year marks the first time these two long-time contributors come together.
A Meeting of Shared Purpose
Landfall and Ultimate Sailing have followed parallel paths—one supporting sailors with knowledge, preparation, and safety; the other documenting the adventure and emotion that define life on the water. Their collaboration grew naturally out of a shared mission to give back to the community they’ve both served for decades.
“We’ve always admired what the other brings to sailing,” says Green. “Landfall supports sailors with tools and information. Ultimate Sailing celebrates the passion and exhilaration of being out there. Aligning just made sense.”
Fleischman agrees. “Sailing is more than equipment. It’s a lifestyle, a culture, a commitment. Sharon’s work captures the soul of that experience.”
What This Collaboration Brings to Sailors
Through this alignment, Landfall will now feature Ultimate Sailing’s annual calendar and select imagery, giving sailors a new way to carry the spirit of sailing home. It’s not a shift in direction for either brand, but an extension of their shared goal: serving sailors more fully.
Both organizations see the collaboration as part of a broader conversation about the sport’s future—how to maintain its heritage, welcome new sailors, and highlight what makes life on the water meaningful.
